The topic of this month has been to design a life of fluency, that I share in a course within the Receptive Giving Network. I’ve been diving deeper into the healing of the Sacral Chakra, which is the second energy center from the bottom of the spine. It’s been a treat! I see how much work I have to do in this department.

The Sacral Chakra’s Sanskrit name is Svadhisthana, which translates to sweetness.

How beautiful? The second energy center created in the development of the psyche is revolved around pleasure, nourishment, and desire. We are so fortunate to have this powerful creative force within us, but let’s not confuse it with the creativity of the Throat Chakra, Vishuddha. The Throat Chakra brings the thoughts and ideas of the Third Eye Chakra down the feminine (yin) energy current of manifestation into self-expression. The Throat Chakra is responsible for our speech, sharing of ideas, artwork, writing, and so on. The Sacral Chakra is more about creation, nurturance, and growth. We can ride the masculine (yang) energy current of liberation upwards and change, take new shape, and evolve (all functions of the Sacral Chakra), or we can ride the feminine energy current downward and bring those ideas that we’ve been sharing and talking about into reality.

Creation requires nurturance, tenderness, and nourishment. The Sacral Chakra is a feminine (yin) energy center in the way that it requires a maternal instinct to guide the forward motion of your desires. In order for us to design our life and truly create our own reality, we must be willing to let go, surrender, and love what takes form before our eyes. Intentions are powerful. As long as you hold the highest intention for the highest potential reality to be created around your desires, then you will truly be blessed and in good hands. There will never be fear around what you are trying to create.

Manifesting the life of your dreams is not that hard, and what I’m learning is that it starts with the subtlest practices and changes in habit. I can speak for myself that I feel my Sacral Chakra was shut down for the majority of my life. It’s still difficult for me to embrace earthly pleasures because of the surrender and vulnerability that is required. Especially when it comes to work, I tend to put work before my personal pleasures and needs. It’s sad to exist solely in your thoughts with lack of connection, depth to your experience, and receptivity to feel.

I’ve started to incorporate more pleasure into my work-week to keep my Sacral Chakra in balance. That looks like taking my work to the new cafe in town and treating myself to a Matcha Latte. I love being around people while in the sanctuary of my own solitude. I like to look up and see children with their parents coming and going. I enjoy the quiet company of life all around me. What places, people, or things give you a sincere feeling of contentment and subtle joy to be alive?

In the network, I talk about my routines and rituals as inspiration for others to create their own. It’s about looking at your week to schedule the things that make your soul happy, create space, and bring you joy. For example, I tried at first to make Tuesday mornings or evenings my art day, and some weeks were more successful than others. What I realized is that it wasn’t pleasurable for me, but rather filled with guilt and pressure. I felt the guilt around it because it was the beginning of my work week and I felt more inclined to get started than settle in and relax; nonetheless having the ability to let go and create. So, after months of trying to automate it, I realized I need to take a different approach. I decided to make Friday mornings my personal creative day. It’s been working really well! I feel more relaxed around the routine because it’s at the end of my work-week, so I usually have the majority of my projects completed; and it’s a great way to start my weekend! I journal, blog, paint, draw, read… whatever I’m personally feeling drawn too.

If you feel yourself too busy to tend to your freedom, I highly suggest scheduling it into your week and honoring it with sincere discipline. Everyone needs free, mind-wandering time.

Which brings me to the reason I felt so moved to write this article. It doesn’t matter what you’re about to do, whether it’s work, yoga, exercise, meeting with clients, dinner with friends… whatever it may be… do it with presence. I realized that the true power of the Sacral Chakra is to get us out of habitual patterns, rigidity, and sluggishness. It’s about bringing a liveliness to whatever it is that you’re doing! It’s not about the work you’re creating and it’s not about you… it’s about the glue that hold you together. The Sacral Chakra Is relationship and it wants to see you play and experience fully whatever it is that you’re engaging in.

It was on my mat this morning when this lesson presented itself. I was doing a Sacral Chakra sequence and realized how often I perform my yoga practice robotically. It’s become a routine for me by returning to it for an hour each morning. Routines are healthy for the Root Chakra to give you structure beneath the Sacral Chakra’s free-flowing energy (think how water needs its molecular structure to flow as freely as it does), but the work is in trying to be present within your routines. I found myself caught in thought as my body moved through the postures. That’s the human dilemma of having a separation between conscious thought and instinct of body.

What’s moves us today is going to be vastly different than what moved us yesterday or the day before. Can you tap into the movement of today? Where is the current taking you? Enjoy the ride.

So, I set the intention to feel and find pleasure within my practice this morning. This opened my mind and body to move together in harmony in the ways that felt good, not judging the poses or dictating what I “should” be practicing. I just let myself be and I ended up having a beautiful practice that lit me up for the rest of the day. I see the opportunities within today where I can add a little more pleasure and less rigidity.

I can take 15 minutes to enjoy a fresh brewed, locally grown CBD tea and a cranberry muffin, while listening to nature outside my window. I can then move my work to the cafe, as I mentioned earlier, and take advantage of this town that I love so much. I can take a long shower before I leave the house, to cleanse my emotions, thoughts, and energy. I can put on a free flowing summer dress, towel dry my hair to beachy waves, and wear my favorite pair of opal earrings. I can feel beautiful today and stand in my creative power. I can let the current of the universe take me and trust that my intentions are good, that wherever I drift too will be to satisfy my deepest desires.

Affirmation: I Choose.

You have the power to create the reality of your dreams and every challenge or obstacle that comes your way will be for your own growth. Let yourself embrace the flow and embody freedom. You have the power to be present, make new decisions, do things in a different way. Re-connect with that child-like spirit inside you and nurture their essence. Become reacquainted with playing, exploring, and wandering. Have fun without fear of the outcome or guilt that you’re not doing it the “right” way. There is no right or wrong, but simply choice and opportunity. Your world is what you make of it. Be the co-creator you were always destined to be.

This is Sacral Chakra Healing. Namaste.
